Belonging, Empathy, Acceptance, Connectedness, Opportunity, and Negotiation (BEACON) is a rubric developed by Dr. Suzette Garay to serve as a framework for curriculum revision in Interpreter Education Programs. The thrust of a BEACON-inspired curriculum is to invest in long-term relationships with diverse h/Hearing and Deaf consumers. Videos in this series are interpreted conversations on topics of relevance to social change, individual growth, and a sustainable future.

Introduction to the BEACON Social Model of Interpreting

Our first interpreted video conversation, on the collaborative communication practice of repair in interpreted interaction, is available on the BEACON YouTube Channel.
